Yoshio Kuriki was born in Seto City, Japan,  in 1950. He earned his Bachelor of Fine Art in 1979 from Nihon University College of Art. Then he completed postgraduate studies in sculpture at Aichi Prefectural University of Fine Arts and Music. Currently, Kuriki is a special visiting professor at Nagoya University of Arts.

Through intimately engaging with the world, Kiruki uses the language of movement, touch, and contemplation to decipher the ever-shifting nature of existence. His works serve as poignant reflections of their era, seamlessly weaving the philosophical underpinnings and distinctive traits of Japan’s renowned art movements, “Mono-ha” and “Gutai”.
